She lays herself to sleep
In the stillness of the night
To afraid to close the door
To scared to switch off the light.

Sickly sweet this silent still
Almost to good to be true
The beauty in quiet she enjoys
With nothing left to do

The nightmares of the day
Fade quickly into thought
Solace of the solitude
Her dreams now to be caught

Counting sheep she doesn’t
Night lamp, she has none
She has the one thing she needs
For rest when day is done

So she gets in closer
Arms wrapped around tight
Warmth of love surrounding
The one who hears her plight

Her eyes close all too swiftly
Suddenly she feels secure
The love of her life she is holding.
Sleep ready now to occur
