My plea.

In the darkness of the night
I roll over and reach for you
Searching to place my arm
Around your body…
yet all my hand finds is a pillow
And an empty space where
you should be.
I long for the solace of your
presence
and for the sanctuary of
your hold.
Yet in the stills of this evening
I lay alone…
Night after night, alone…
Day after day yearning for you.
An ache within me
That feels your absence
And bleeds with the distance
How I hate the space between…
So your side of my bed remains
made up
And the pillows and blanket
never moved.
I roll back to where I laid once more
Still alone
With only my thoughts and dreams of you
to get me through the night.
An absence so present
An absence I will never be able to accept
An absence unwilling
Come to me my love
For where you belong
Is a cold, dark and empty space
Along side me
Waiting to be filled…
